About Us

Headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina USA, our team, with a combined 100 years worth of experience, is a recipe for a full service shipping and logistics company capable of meeting its clients’ needs.

GKrates can provide the following services including: export documentation, AES, title clearances, import documentation, origin and distention services.  GKrates manufactures crates, boxes and pallets to fit any size requirement. We design and fabricate a wide variety of museum quality crating systems for shipping rare art and antiques. Our global family of agents provides our customers with the breadth of services required to meet every export and import shipment.

GKrates International is not a non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) for ocean cargo nor do we operate as an NVOCC**.  GKrates works directly with companies around the USA and abroad that do offer export, import, and full handling services.  From loading cars, motorcycles, household goods, even boats and planes -our team can provide the services and facilities to make all shipping projects successful.

**US designation for a shipment consolidator or freight forwarder who does not own any vessel, but functions as a 'carrier' by issuing its own bills of lading or air waybills and assumes responsibility for the shipments.

GKRATES is focused on meeting its customer's needs while satififying its own need to create environmentally and ecologically safe shipping systems.

International Plant Protection Convention

To be in compliance with the new ISPM-15 standards for wood packaging the wood must be treated in one of two ways: Heat treatment or chemical treatment. Heat treatment (HT) dictates that the packaging material must be heated until it reaches a minimum core temperature of 56 degrees centigrade for at least 30 minutes. This process must be done by a certified company that is audited monthly by an independent federally certified agency.

Chemical treatment -- or Methyl Bromide (MB) treatment -- requires that the packaging be fumigated with methyl bromide. Buckeye Diamond recommends Heat Treatment as the safest method for two reasons. First, the U.S. EPA is strongly advocating that the chemical methyl bromide be phased out of use due to its toxicity and secondly its alleged effects of contributing to the Ozone level depletion problem.

Today, more than ever, export shippers need a wood packaging supplier that can handle the growing demand for ISPM15 compliant wood packaging.

GKrates utilizes only global compliant materials for all crating systems and adhears to ISPM-15 standards.  Kiln Dried, Heat Treated, and Rock Solid

Two containers to Brazil -my documentation was perfect, their service fantastic... these guys worked for me, always taking calls, working after hours on my behalf.  I will use them everytime!   Zeke L (Charleston)

My parents decided to return home after 23 years in the United States -I turned to GKrates because they came highly recommended.  They explained every detail and uncovered possible events that could cost additional money.  With their preparation and hard work -what they quoted was what it cost.  I have sent others to them and they have had the same experience -thanks guys! Anderson K (Boston)
